This was the cake for Robert's sister's wedding. She wanted it tropical, and I think we succeeded! The top two layers were real, the bottom three were rice crispy treat (which I will never ever ever do again), and the flower arranging I pulled off by using my skills as a gardener at the temple. Not bad, huh?

Ben's 5th Birthday
Ben (my brother) loves cars. Mom asked us to make a cool car cake for his birthday. 3D cake molds are always great for catching the fancy of a child.

We passed!!
Our final test was pulling off the two tiered wedding cake with a bazillion gum paste roses. The roses were the hardest part because they took so long! I eventually cut them short from the required amount because two days of working on them (with help from my sister, Bonnie)was long enough for me! Yea! we made it through all three cake courses and had a good time.

These were our graduation cakes from class 1. We learned to make roses and tort the cake as well with pudding. (we were really supposed to use jam or something gross like that, but chocolate pudding sounded way better.)We each made our own. It's too bad youcan't see any of the details in these cheap walmart one-time-use camera shots.

Abigail's 2nd Birthday
my niece, Abigail was turning two and shares my love/obsession with ponies. Roseanne asked us to make a pony-style cake, which we took as an excuse to buy a really cool "grass decorator tip". The pasture just wouldn't have been the same without it.

Making flowers and leaves was part of this assignment. I experimented with colors to get the mauve shade for my cake, and Robert worked hard on leaves for his tree cake.
